Michaela Mor is a painter and an artist specializing in drawing, a graduate of the Department of Fine Arts at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design (2023). Her works have been exhibited in museums and galleries, including the Tel Aviv Cultural Hall (2024), “Emerging Artists” in Tel Aviv-Jaffa (2023), “Horace Richter” in Tel Aviv-Jaffa (2022), and Barbur Gallery in Jerusalem (2021).

In addition to her artistic practice, Michaela has worked as an assistant curator and producer, participating in projects such as the “Manofim” Festival in Jerusalem (2024) and exhibitions in various galleries in Tel Aviv-Jaffa (2021-2023). She took part in the professional development program for artists at the Edmonde de Rothschild Center (2024) and the “Beginnings #2” program in collaboration with TA Tarbut (תא תרבות), Kiryat HaMelacha, and the Edmonde de Rothschild Foundation (2024).

My work delves into corporeality and explores the internal gaze on the body, focusing on the physical and emotional changes it undergoes and their profound impact on the experience of existence. My process of documenting the body stems from painterly gestures that combine abstraction, subtraction, engraving on the surface, and layering of color to create rich textures. The essence of my practice emerges through an intuitive search, free of predetermined paths, guided by reflections on the depths of the body as a hidden world.

The death of my younger sister is a painful and central starting point that informs my work. My paintings incorporate elements of burning on canvas alongside botanical, fantastical, and dreamlike motifs, aiming to convey the presence of memory and loss and evoke a sense of an ongoing search for an elusive and intangible inner world. My works strive to create a space where memory, loss, and fantasy intertwine into a visual experience, inviting viewers to introspect and confront emotional and existential layers. Through the exploration of the body, material, and imagination, I seek to touch upon the essence of humanity and create a personal resonance of shifting states of existence.
